About us

Safari Travel Deals idea was mooted back in 2012 by Bart de Bruin and George Ngigi who were working for an international donor agency in Tanzania and their work involved a lot of travel to lots of locations in the huge country with locals friends who took them to places and shared experiences that they would never have experienced on their own so when their project ended in September 2014 the decided to stay and formed Safari Travel Deals to create and share these unique travel experiences with a personal, human touch for others.

Ask us about the time a delayed flight turned into the adventure of a lifetime – it’s one of our favourite stories.

Positive Impact Travel

We bring our clients to some of the most special and unique places around the world. Understanding that these are precious and often fragile, we commit to having a positive impact by helping communities and conserving nature. We do this because we feel it’s the right thing to do and because we believe travel is a far more enjoyable and rewarding experience when you know your trip is directly benefiting others. Every Safari Travel Deals journey is carbon-neutral, and we support organisations that preserve habitats and empower local communities.

I got my first taste of Tanzania working for an international donor agency based in Arusha. I loved it so much I have decided to live there. Aside from enjoying the cool laid back African Geneva lifestyle, I had the chance to explore the most of Eastern and Southern Africa in depth. I travelled Kivu in Congo, Kazinga & Bwindi in Uganda, before heading south to discover Okavango delta in the south. I love this part of the world so much that I have decided to work as a travel expert, sharing my experiences and knowledge of this incredible continent.
George Ngigi
Director Marketing & Destinations
I have travelled and worked all over East Africa, but my last stint was out in Tanzania that had me touring to remote but amazing corners such as Kigoma, Katavi, Ruaha and Selous then back up to the popular northern circuit spots of Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire has given me an amazing overview of many of the ubandant amazing experiences that Tanzania has to offer. Understanding cultures and local customs is a favourite pastime for me when I’m travelling and I always find new encounters when I travel.

It was an unforgettable trip to the Ngorongoro Crater at the age of nine that fired my ambitions to explore the world, but a love of travel and exploring different cultures might just be in my DNA. Tanzania has always been a place of great curiosity for me, with so much history and a deep-rooted culture; the warm people, the exhilarating landscapes and the new experiences that has fixed in this beautiful country.

Born and raised in Tanzania, I have lived in the UK during my college days and travelled to France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey. My number one specialty destination is Tanzania, of course, my eyes light up when I talk about Tanzania's insane cultural richness. On my own trips, I enjoy relaxing and experimenting, diving into authenticity, alternating special treats with experiences totally out of my comfort zone.

Beaches are always going to be my first love. Ask me about my favourite beach experiences in East African Coat, which include complete isolation up in Saadani National Park, Spice tours in clove farms, or enjoying a relaxing afternoon in a hammock in the palm-fringed Zanzibari beaches. I have been very lucky to travel to some remote and beautiful landscapes worldwide, but nothing took my breath away quite like landscape views of the Ngorongoro crater and amazing sunsets across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Another incredible highlight of my time in Tanzania will always be partying with the locals during the Urithi festivals featuring various cultural dances.

Past adventures have allowed me to brave the Zanzibari waters and snorkel with dolphins in Zanzibar; sleep under canvas in remote Selous in the Tanzanian jungle; take the unforgettable trek to the top of Kilimanjaro; and there are still so many more areas for me to experience and explore. Ask me about swimming in Zanzibar, Old Swahili archaeological sites, authentic bushmen tours and local food.
